Who Are You?
Can you answer this question, “Who Am I?”
Use qualities and characteristics that best describe you. Take a moment to think about it and when you’re ready write it down on a piece of paper.
If you can’t come up with anything, don’t worry you’re not alone. Most of us don’t give much thought to this question until we realize that we’re stuck and riddled with uncertainty.
Here’s the gig, if you want to move past feeling STUCK you need to build a solid self-image. One that empowers and makes you feel confident.
Unquestionably, there is something to be said about holding a role in an organization along with a fancy title such as doctor, lawyer, chairman, president, vice president, executive, director, manager, analyst and so on. But don’t forget, a title is only as good as the strengths and skills you bring to the table. So don’t get caught up with roles and titles because it does little if anything for your self-image. But it does wonders for your ego.
So what does it look like when you have a negative self-image?
Struggle! Struggle applying your abilities toward your dreams and goals. Struggle believing you can succeed and struggle staying the course till the end. And its all because of self-imposed beliefs: Unmeasurable standards and expectations.
The opposite is true when you have a positive self-image, one that is comprised of attributes which best describe your strengths and skills. It empowers and motivates you to be the best you can even in the face of challenges.
A Powerful Formula For Creating A Positive Self-Image
To create a positive self-image you need to sit down and spend some time identifying your top strengths and skills. It’s important you do this because who you are is a culmination of your strengths, skills, values and needs. When you have this information you should be able to string together a sentence or two that define who you are and what you stand for. It should look something like this:
I am strength, strength, and strength, with a passion for value, value, and value.
