"Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our fears are the source of the "shadows". But without shadow, there would be no sunshine. Without "bad", it would be impossible to distinguish the "good". Fear is an ancient response; a valuable instinct that helped ensure the survival of our ancestors. We can't always turn our back on our fears, but we can continue to benefit from the "sunshine" in which we stand. Fear is opportunity - the catalyst that propels us to new levels of success and serenity.
Everyone has fears. Few are able to recognise, accept, and channel our fears into productive thought and action. But herein lies the "hidden path" to success and happiness. The next step is realising that having fears does not make you a bad or weak person; it simply makes you human. The happiest and most successful among us have learned to recognise their fears, to manage them, and most importantly, to use them to create the conditions necessary for self-improvement.
What's their secret? The answers are within you.
Ask yourself:
- Can you distinguish between reality and illusion?
- Do you feel "in control" of your life?
- Do you learn from past mistakes, so you don't repeat them?
- Do you accept and love yourself, complete with your imperfections and limitations?
- Can you accept criticism from others, and learn from it?
- Do you face your fears forthrightly, and not seek to avoid them?
If you can't answer these questions, or the answer to any of them is "no," you should consider a Life Coach. A Life Coach will help you make that start immediately. Available life coaching packages
"Fear limits your personal growth and distracts you from achieving success. It draws upon your most frightening and humiliating experiences and creates illusions of your future based on those experiences. These illusions will only stunt your growth. To avoid them, recognize your fear and overcome it."— Bruno LoGreco
