How to get back onto your life path

Just like that it happened again – I lost my way. I must have taken a detour onto another path. For the past several months I’ve been working on a number of new projects as well as doing my own thing. I am writing a new book, preparing for seminars, and developing a new program for a high school among other things. With so much happening all around me I knew it was just a matter of time before something would take me off the path.

Towards the end of February I suspected that I had taken a wrong turn somewhere. I try not to react when I get this feeling. I believe that wrong turns are open doors for us to peak into. Sometimes an open door leads to another door and behind it is an opportunity, and sometimes it leads to another door and another and before you know it you are onto a new path. I recall saying to myself to take a peak and come right back. But I found another open door that led to a door with multiple doors – that’s when I got lost.

Behind each door were new and exciting opportunities. They all seemed like fun and within the realm of my expertise. But it wasn’t exactly what I envisioned or planned for. But it was close enough – “Shoot for the stars” I reminded myself. Me just like many of you, I got sucked-up by the attraction to instant gratification, prestige and status. I swallowed the bate.

A New Beginning

This path looks a lot different than the one I was on not long ago. I don’t feel like myself and I am doing things I would not normally do. I feel my insides screaming: Warning – Warning – Warning! But I ignored the warnings. Nothing I do feels right. It feels like everything I do I am doing it because I believe it is what I should do to get more of the same, and nothing for me. I even avoid talking to me.

This is definitely not the right path. “How do I get back?

It was long over due. I took a timeout. I shut down for a few hours and reconnected with me. I turned everything off: computer, television, and people. And after a few minutes of breathing I was able to turn down the noise – the constant wave of chatter. And there he stood patiently waiting for my arrival.

A familiar happy face finally appeared. I smiled back and said, “hello, where have you been?” “No, where have you been”, he said. It did not take us long to get reacquainted. Within a few minutes he drew a map and showed me the way. He also pointed at where I went wrong and why. After spending quality time with each other, he provided the encouragement and support i need for the next leg of my life journey. His final words to me were: “Don’t be gone for too long next time.

It feels great to be back.

The Future Is 15 Seconds Away…

Life is moving forward with each passing second. The future is only one second away and within 15 seconds your entire life can change – One telephone call, a discussion in passing, even this blog post can change your attitude and will contribute to the journey you are about to embark on with or without conscience thought. Everything can and will change your future every 15 seconds. Are you ready?

Life is filled with choices, life choices that are all yours to make, every step of the way. You may choose to live your life with a false belief to defend your life choices and continue on the same path talking about the same problems one year from now. Or, you can choose to acknowledge and accept that you chose this path at some point in your life, right or wrong, and now you must choose a new path with new action.

Everybody, everywhere in life will have to make choices. Some choices will be for the better, other choices will be for the worst, but every choice is an invaluable lesson that you will take with you to your next journey. If you are one of those people that is stuck, or someone that loves to complain about something that happened ten years ago, you need to know whatever you may think is the reason why you are on that same path, the real reasons is because you are choosing to continue on the same path.

So, now you know the truth about life choices, and now you have a choice to make: Continue down the same path complaining about the choices you made, or you can choose to take a new path and change your future

Are you ready? The future is only 15 seconds away…

Random Thought About Life

I’m tired. I did not sleep well last night. It seems as if I have a lot on my mind these past few days. I know everything will work out, it always does. Due to the lack of sleep and my wondering mind, I doubt that I will be able to keep a thought this morning. Instead, I decided to write about the random thoughts that are running through my mind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Late last night while working with a client, I noticed something missing from the article I wrote the other day, “When You Suffocate The True You” I noticed I had omitted an important piece of the suppression exercise. If are using the exercise, you need to add the following to the beginning of the exercise:
1. Become aware when you are around people, which make you feel bad. Notice when you are feeling limited or muted. Write down the scenario – people, conversation, and feeling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What is the meaning of life?
Life is continual change – the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity and continual change preceding death. You are changing with each passing minute, growing and learning to your full potential up until your last minute.
You could choose to learn and grow with each passing minute or you could choose to make life complicated and remain right where you are, stuck in your comfort zone, rewinding time and reliving the past as if you could change it.
Life is a never-ending learning lesson. Choose to learn and grow with life, because rewinding time is resisting what is.

Life – The Ego Mind

Last night I got thinking about the meaning of life. Many thoughts ran through my head, a lot of questions that started with why.

Why do some people grasp the idea of life while others dwell on the past or dream about the future? Why do some people focus their attention to the next best thing? Why do some people live life through a brick wall? Why are some people afraid to voice their opinion? Why do some people feel another persons needs exceed the needs of their own? Why do some people live in self-inflicted misery?

So many questions left unanswered in so many lives – People like you and me living life hanging onto a thread, anticipating what tomorrow will bring, dwelling over days past, or living in self-inflicted misery… Why I ask?

Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power Of Now speak about the ego mind, how to become present with one, to be, to accept was is, but many find it difficult to grasp the concept of what he speaks.

How does someone become aware of their ego mind – how does someone that has endured child abuse, abandonment, or neglect come to the realization of their ego mind if from childhood they lacked validation and positive reinforcement – validation and positive reinforcement that is a necessity for children, for their development?

The ego is 95% of your actions – The ego is everything you do –The more you fuel a negative ego, the bigger the ego becomes.

Self-inflicted misery – the greater one speaks about his or her misery and worthless life, the stronger the ego, believing that life is worthless. The more you put another person’s needs in front of your own, the great the belief and the feeling that you are insignificant. The more you allow yourself to be muted, the greater the belief that what you have to say is stupid and wrong.

How do any of these individuals learn about the ego mind, learn about what is holding them back? The answer can only be found deep in the soul, buried in the roots of who they believe they are. Who they believe they are based on what they’ve been told about who they are, based on what they have gone through and who they think they need to be because of their past.

Respect Life & Life Will Respect You

This weekend was another one of those discovery weekends – Thanks to Katia from Nature’s Secret Whisper. Katia challenged her readers to plan a day to have an adventure. So that is exactly what I set off to do this past weekend – Unfortunately, It rained most of Saturday. I did have good intentions to get out, but was home bound due to the thunder storms in the Toronto area.

Saturday I spent reading and drawing. I put my artistic abilities to the challenge. If I may say so myself, I produced two very interesting pieces. For someone that thought they didn’t have a creative bone in their body, I surprised myself.

Sunday was a special day – two life coaching clients decided to cancel their sessions, which freed my entire Sunday to do as I pleased – Sunday’s weather forecast was part rain and sun, with chances of thunderstorm for the Toronto and surrounding area. The heck with the rain… I took a chance anyway and headed to High Park.

I parked my car on Bloor Street, just west of Keele Street. Took a walk to Starbucks – I ordered a Venti Non-Fat Latte, bottle of water and a Strawberry Cheery Coffee cake. All ready for my day in the park–Notebook, paper pad, pastels, and Harry Potter.

I decided to walk through the bushes and trees on the nature path instead of the sidewalk through the park. I instantly had a thought of Life as I walked through the nature path. And then it started…

All life requires respect – All living things, plants, creatures, animals and humans. I started thinking about the environment. Look at how badly we’ve treated the environment, as a result we are dealing with global warming, change in climates globally. Then I started to wonder about plants and trees. This year is the first time in a very long time I noticed how beautiful weeds are when they are fully grown. Who ever said weeds need to be removed by chemicals? Hmm, I wonder what the side effects will be for using chemicals, did we disrespect life by doing so. I wonder if the increase in cancer cases has anything to do with pesticides?

It started to rain, I took shelter underneath an outhouse with a substantial roof to protect me from the falling rain. I was inspired by the nature that stood all around me, In every direction I turned all I could see were weeds, trees, flowers, grass, bushes, and of course people running for cover. All life forms right before my eyes, even animals not too far in the distance… And than it hit me. Respect Life and Life will respect you.

I learned yesterday that I too am a living, breathing, life form. Just as all living things require respect, we as human also require respect, self-respect When we stop or forget to respect ourselves, we also act like the environment.

I spent the next three hours journaling, respecting my true thoughts.

Life

These past few months since I started blogging have helped me a great deal in dealing with some of my own insecurities. I have shared with the readers of this blog my fears, my phobias and insecurities. One of my original intentions of starting a blog was to share my experiences; I spoke with so many people that shared their lives with me, so I wanted a venue where I could share my experience with others. My other goal was to show other people dealing with similar life issues that they were not alone, and even people like myself that appear to be confident from the inside out also have demons they confront daily.

I’m an open book – I’m not one to hide who I am, I like to live in reality. Sometimes reality hurts, and sometimes it brings JOY. I was raised to hide everything from the outside world for the fear of embarrassing the family. I guess Freud was correct, too much of one thing and not enough of the other, (Maladaptive/Malignant) could have the opposite effect. This explains why I become all that much more determined to accomplish something when somebody tells me that I have no business doing it in the first place.

My journey on my life path is different and unique, just like each of your life path are unique to you. My journey is one that is forever learning, challenging and growing, from each situation I encounter–always challenging myself to new heights. Along the way I will learn new skills and experience new thrills.

Challenge your fears, your beliefs, your self-imposed limitations, and understand where they come from. Journal your thoughts and ask yourself the questions, and in time you will begin to learn and grow again.

As Paulo Coelho writes in his new book:”…Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.’” I found Paulo through Jenny Thanks Jenny – Awesome Find!

Happy Saturday!

I think I am…

If I think I am, then I am…

That’s right, if you think you are then you are. But what happens when you stop thinking? You still are, but without thought. Most of us live our lives thinking 24/7 and become what we think. What do you think happens to you when you stop thinking? Do you seize to exist? No…

When you stop thinking, “I think, so therefore I am” you will be one step closer to achieving a state of awareness. Last night for the first time in almost two years I did not sleep. Anxiety crept back into my life because of a false sense of self. Today is the day I give my speech to 800 students, teachers, professors and parents at the Toronto Metro Convention Center, and I could not turn off the voices in my head last night. I have no clue how billions of people on earth live with anxiety day in and day out. Definitely not for me.

After 2 very long hours dealing with my anxiety last night, I finally got the voices in my head to turn off. During my two hour episode, I analyzed where my fear came from and worked it out.

Today I am ready to give my first speech to 800 unique individuals that are not there to pass judgement on me, but rather to learn about inner peace, conflict resolution and community building. So today is not about Bruno, today is about those kids, it’s about inspiring our future generation to learn and grow with inner peace, so that one day our future generation can live in peace. Peace starts with us first, in our hearts, mind, body and soul. Thats where it starts.

I’m at peace with myself and ready to share with those kids so that we can all learn and grow today.

State Of Awareness Part I

What is a state of awareness? What is all this talk about heighten awareness, living in the moment, Egos, it’s like a new trend has irrupted and everyone wants a piece of it. Even Oprah is involved with her ten-week interactive course at www.oprah.com with author Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

I have to say the book is absolutely genius in the way Eckhart describes how we as humans operate and live our lives. If you never thought about your life and who you are as an individual, the book might be a little hard to imagine, but if you allow yourself to read the book with an open mind and try to connect to what Eckhart is saying, your life could change over night.

Why Do Humans Complain?

What happens to a person that complains about everything in life? Does their life get any better with more complaining? And does what ever they are complaining about go away? Does the complaining get worse throughout their lives? What does a person get out of complaining? Does complaining make the person feel better about themselves?

What would happen if we strip away a persons right to complain, what would happen to the person? What would you do if you couldn’t complain anymore? What if you have a sunburn and couldn’t complain, could you keep it to yourself? Could you reason with yourself? How would you control the urge not to complain about how bad it burns when you lie on your back?

What if you became aware that all you have been doing is complaining about your sunburn? Have you ever caught yourself complaining? What did you tell yourself? Did you consciously tell yourself to stop complaining?

If you have ever caught yourself complaining, you’ve reached a state of awareness. And if you’ve reached a state of awareness, then who is doing all the complaining.
