Philanthropy And What It Means To Me
What is philanthropy to you? To me, it is certainly the
defined description of giving of time and money to needy
causes but it’s also much more than that.
While it’s nice to send a cheque to a charity or
to put a big wad of cash into the collection plate at church,
philanthropy isn’t just about money. I believe firmly
that you reap what you sow and I know that if you put positive
vibes out into the universe and plant seeds of kindness
and motivation, it will create a positive environment around
you. You don’t have to be wealthy
to be a philanthropist.
In my lifetime, I have done many philanthropic things
and I’ve seen huge benefits as a result. I’ve given
to charity in monetary terms and done things for free that
would normally cost someone a lot of money otherwise. I
don’t do good things merely to get good results or
get something back; I do give of myself in life because
it creates a world around me that I can be proud to be
in. I try to create an environment that I want and I often
find that it’s contagious! When I choose to give
time and money to charity and charitable acts, I create
the ideal world around me. Then, as a result, I open
my life up to more good by the attitude and approach
I use in life. Gifts are bestowed upon us so we can
share them with the world. I do my best to do that
every day in my life.
Being told you must do something charitable is a nothing
like true charitable act. If someone begrudgingly
helps someone or helps a cause because they feel obligated,
it creates negativity. Negativity creates a vacuum
in your life and sucks out the positives around you.
Instead, if someone gives with a giving heart, it
creates positive energy in their universe and doing so
can have a great ripple effect in their life. Happiness
in life can hinge on that positive energy.
Do you remember that warm, fuzzy feeling you got
the last time you saw or did something heart warming?
You can live with that feeling inside of you at all
times if you choose to.
What Can You Do To Be A Philanthropist And Make Your Own
World A Better Place?
I regularly donate time and money and I’m working
to open a children’s charity for less fortunate kids.
I hope you’ll look at your life and think about what
you might be able to do to open up your heart to giving
of yourself to philanthropy. Doing it won’t only
open your world of possibilities for happiness and wealth
but it will be contagious resulting in a happier world
around you.

What
Does Charity Cost You?
In corporate environments you are often told to put
the needs of the team ahead of the needs of yourself.
In family, the same often is expected. In fact, it often
comes naturally to think of your family instead of just
yourself and your own needs or to cancel your plans to
appease your boss. In my own life and career I often
put my others’ needs ahead of my own. I often set
aside time that I don’t really even have to help
them out. When I do, it always works out and I often
find that I benefit in the long run. I have seen people
donate money that they couldn’t afford and suddenly
receive a windfall. I’ve seen miraculous examples
of this philosophy on a constant basis! I’ve seen
people give time to causes and get rewarded in other
areas of their lives.
I’ve also seen people who cannot be bothered to
get positive in life wonder why they never feel happy
and never get what they want. |
What
Does Charity Earn You?
There will always be time available
when you give of your time generously. You’ll find
extra hours in the day! You will always find good around
you when you make an effort to do good because positive
energy creates a positive environment. Positivism creates
positive growth and negativity will just yields more
draining negatives.
In my opinion,
living a philanthropic life doesn’t only come from
sending a cheque to a charity; it happens when you live
your life in a way that treats a stranger as you’d
treat loved ones and it happens when you lead your life
in the way you want your life to be. Let me elaborate
on that.
If you want to be open to receive
acts of kindness and charity, you have to put that out
there. If you expect good fortune to happen to you randomly,
you need to put yourself in a light that allows others
to be charitable to you. Open yourself up to giving and
you can be given to. Does that make sense?
Be thankful for the good things in
your life and you open up yourself to receive more to
be thankful for.
When you choose to be a philanthropist
in life, you open the world up to new possibilities.
If you cannot donate money, donate time. If you can help
someone in a small way, just do it! This is how I choose
to live my life. I work hard and I consider the world
that I live in. I’m moved by acts of kindness and
charity and do my best to share the blessings I’ve
been given in life. This includes sharing my gifts and
talents and giving of my time and money.
